Writing Competition?

Writing Competition?
Are we by chance going to have a writing competition soon? It could start off as something easy and maybe something to do with the board specifically. For example our best post that we've written on Wizard Domain?
I could create the prize banner. It would only be small-ish, something the winner could put above or bellow their signature.
Just a thought. What do other people think?

Re: Writing Competition?
I think that's a wonderful idea love
Maybe a short fic with a theme that a moderator chooses. Let's say under 2000 words. That's just an idea. Either way, I'm up for anything.

Re: Writing Competition?
I'll have a think about it. I might give over this power to one of the moderators. Perhaps Persephone if she's interested.
"Persephone!!"

Re: Writing Competition?
I think this is a fantastic idea. If Scarlet would like to create a banner, maybe we could follow Theodore's idea of writing a short story under 2000 words.
The theme can relate to the board in some way - open for interpretation - or have something to do in the Harry Potter world. Canon characters can be used, or characters you make up can also be used, as long as it's in the world of the Wizards and Witches.

Re: Writing Competition?
Now all you have to do is make the thread and advertise in the Announcement page. I'll be judging so make sure you give me lots of virtual cookies.
P.S I can't be bribed *hehe*

Re: Writing Competition?
Sounds good but we might have to stipulate some rules. That way we can have an accurate marking criteria (eek *runs* from very school-like term). That way the winner can be chosen fairly. Other wise Athena will just pick the one she thinks has the best grammar. Hehe.
I'd suggest:
So that's 12 marks that can possibly be awarded.
What do you guys think?
I'd suggest:
- Grammar/Spelling {2 marks}
- Language (expressed well, flowing) {2 marks}
- Sense (does it make sense) {2 marks}
- Creativity (how much sounds too cliche? how much sounds totally bloody brilliant?) {2 marks}
- Length (if it's too long it wont be read, too short and it doesn't qualify) {2 marks}
- Requirements (does it follow what's been asked?) {2 marks}
So that's 12 marks that can possibly be awarded.
What do you guys think?

Re: Writing Competition?
Or we could just vote for the best one?

Re: Writing Competition?
I think it would be best, as the numbers on the board are not very high, to have a judge. It allows for a little more objectivity. Once the board has reached a certain number of active users we can certainly have a voting system put up in place.
Scarlet's idea is good as well, it allows for people to discover how good their writing is and how to improve it (sounds a lot like school...), it will also help with their writing on the board. I think we'll use Scarlet's idea until there are more active members and then we'll change to Jai's system.
Persephone thread away!

Re: Writing Competition?
Here's the banner you requested Perse. It's just roughly done and very red looking. So unlike Draco but I liked the colours.
I thought the title "Competition Winner, Writing/July" could represent that the winner won in July... I probably should have put a year on it but I didn't (lazy).
